Our spectacular site on the cliffs above the Carmel coastline was originally home to State Senator Edward and Mrs. Bess Tickle. A great lover of flowers, particularly the pink varieties, Mrs. Tickle favored a suggestion to name their hillside stone cottage ‘Tickle Pink,’ which they had inscribed on a wooden plaque that hung above their door. The enchanting stone cottage has long since disappeared, but the name and its traditions happily remain.
